Exploring the links between Classics and Spanish

Our Classics and Spanish departments teamed up this week to explore the links between the two subjects with Year 7.

Students looked at the development of Latin vocabulary into Spanish, considered how their knowledge of Latin can help with learning Romance languages, and vice versa. They also discovered the legacy of Roman Hispania, focusing on the remains of the stunning aqueduct in Segovia and the theatre in Mérida. We look forward to more opportunities to delve deeper into the benefits of studying Classics, and the links between the ancient and the modern.
