Congratulations to Sreemedha in Year 7 for winning this year's Atherton Award!

Sreemedha is creating handmade bookmarks, greeting cards, paintings and soaps, which she is selling online and through family and friends, with 50% of the monthly proceeds being donated to charity. She has plans to add additional products, such as candles, to her e-store, and to use her website to create further awareness of charity-supported environmentally friendly products. Sreemedha already uses paper that is acid and lignin-free and has plans to use even more sustainable materials in her products.

The Atherton Award, founded by entrepreneur Amber Atherton, is an annual prize given to any pupil 11+ who displays entrepreneurial initiative.

Amber says, "I am delighted to recognize Sreemedha as this year’s Atherton Award winner for her creative business, for which 50% of profits go to a charity in India. We were particularly impressed by the profit forecasting Sreemedha put together.

With this start-up capital and in our mentoring sessions, I’m excited to see the business develop further, refining her offerings to achieve even more revenue.

Congratulations to everyone who entered. Wimbledon girls have entrepreneurial spirit in bucket loads and I can't wait to watch, and maybe one day invest, in the incredible businesses you might build!”
