Linguistica - Special Edition!

Sunday 26 September was European Day of Languages, a day established by the British Council, aiming to promote the importance of lifelong language learning and the rich linguistic diversity of Europe. 

To celebrate this day, our Linguistica team are proud to share a special edition, featuring our own diverse heritage, explorations of different cultures and languages of the world as well as the languages that are represented here at WHS. 

Head to Linguistica to challenge yourself to learn new words in Afrikaans, Irish Gaelic or Kannada, delight in colourful Russian idioms, discover Japanese food and begin to understand the Hindi-Urdu controversy. In this edition you will also discover the beautiful poems produced as part of an exciting poetry slam workshop. Inspired by Sujata Bhatt’s poem Search For My Tongue, talented WHS students tackled the theme of Home in their own multilingual poems.
