The appointment has been announced, today, 1 July 2024, of Harriet Fryer as successor to Claire Boyd in the role of Head of Junior School at Wimbledon High School. Harriet is currently Senior Deputy Head at Notting Hill Prep - a forward-thinking, innovative independent prep school - and has also taught at Dulwich Prep.

Head of Wimbledon High School, Fionnuala Kennedy, said:

“Harriet is extremely experienced and I have personal knowledge of her excellence having worked with her in my role as a Notting Hill Prep Governor on safeguarding and pastoral care, in which she is a sector-leading influence. We are delighted to have secured a leader of Harriet's calibre to steer our amazing Junior School and I look forward very much indeed to working alongside her as we continue to take Wimbledon High to new heights.”

Harriet has a BA in English Literature and Theatre Studies from the University of Leeds. Looking ahead to joining the school in January 2024, Harriet said:

“I am truly honoured to join such a prestigious, vibrant and forward-thinking school community, and to be part of the inspirational work taking place in the Girls’ Day School Trust. Growing up, I was lucky enough to have an incredibly positive and happy school experience attending an all-girls’ independent school, so this very much feels like ‘coming home’ for me. From my recent visits to the school, I sampled first-hand the Wimbledonian spirit. The Junior School girls I met were full of genuine passion, curiosity and creativity. It is this spirit that makes me so excited to lead this very special school. I understand and value the integral links between play, curiosity and academic rigour and resilience. The school is a place where girls feel known and nurtured; a space where they can grow in confidence, develop their voice, pursue their interests without limitations and, ultimately, in doing so, have fun.”
