STEAM Alumnae

It was a thrill to see the culmination of Year 8’s hard work, collaboration, and research in our annual Science Fair last Thursday (13 June). The Auditorium was buzzing with parents, fellow classmates, and teachers who were able to quiz these burgeoning young scientists about their work.

Year 8 students had been tasked with completing investigations into their own research questions which ranged from questions around the role music has on memory to whether colour influences a horse’s decision-making. Topics were indeed varied and wide-ranging.

Additionally, we were delighted to welcome back a distinguished panel of WHS alumnae as judges who had the difficult task of distilling down more than 50 posters to just three winning projects after a thorough interview with each entrant.

MEET THE WINNERS:

1st Caitlin H, Kyla S -T, and Flora S-H

– Bioplastics

2nd  Eleanor W (8AST)

– Does an equine’s colour perception affect their decisions?

3rd Isabel A, Tess B, and Isla D (8AST)
